[Translation from Hindi] Dehradun News: Publish Date:Sat, 17 Aug 2019 04:59 PM (IST) In Rishikesh, trustees of the ISKCON New Vrindavan East Trust filed a case for embezzelment and racketeering against directors of the famous Madhuban Ashrama at Munikireti. Police have launched an investigation of the case.

Munikireti Police Station Chief Superintendent R.K. Saklani said that Trust trustees R.K. Maheshvari, Dr. Ravi Khantahar, Hemant Thakur, and Ravindra Mallya submitted a statement. It is said that the Kailash Gate area Madhuban Ashram is the registered property of the ISKCON Vrindavan East Trust. The maintenance of this property is subject to the officers of the board of trustees. The board of trustees in 1989 appointed as trustee Bhakti Yoga Swami, who died on 12 April 2017. Afterwards, Ashrama worker Prem Prakash Rana declared himself Swami of the ashram without obtaining the board’s acceptance.

Temple donations were continuously misappropriated by Prem Prakash Rana, Harsh Kumar Kaushal, Raju Bajaj, Om Prakash Rana and other accomplices. Revenues from the guest house and restaurant were never deposited in trust accounts but were being deposited in personal accounts. It is also alleged by the trustees that Prem Prakash Rana conspired with the ashrama’s driver, Sunil Sharma, to declare himself the head of the ashram and continue to misuse ashram assets.

On the basis of the statement, an investigation has been started against Prem Prakash Rana aka Paramanand Das, Harsh Kumar, Raju Bajaj, Om Prakash Rana and Sunil Sharma for embezzelment, fraud and other sections.
