Ritviks’ Temple Win Under Threat: Supreme Court Sets Date for ISKCON’s Review Plea

The ritvik breakaway society that holds ISKCON’s Bengaluru temple has not heard the last of it. India’s Supreme Court has agreed to hear ISKCON’s plea to review the May 2025 verdict that handed the temple to Madhu Pandit Dasa’s group, with the hearing set for the week after October 5.

NEW DELHI, India — ISKCON’s fight to reclaim its temple in Bengaluru is back on the Supreme Court’s calendar. On Monday, September 28, the court agreed to list for hearing ISKCON’s plea seeking a review of its May 16, 2025 verdict, which had awarded the Hare Krishna temple to the Bangalore society led by Madhu Pandit Dasa, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

According to PTI, senior advocate Shyam Divan and advocate Kartik Seth, appearing for ISKCON (the national society registered in Mumbai in 1971, referred to in court as ISKCON Mumbai), pressed a bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana to take up the review. The Chief Justice said the review plea, together with other interim pleas, would be listed for hearing before a bench a week after October 5.

The hearing is the next step after the court agreed last December to review its May 2025 ruling. That ruling was quickly hailed by ritvik supporters as a win for their doctrine, a claim Akincana examined in Did Ritvikism Win in Court?

In a press release reported by LawBeat, ISKCON India said it hoped a full hearing would expose efforts to “usurp the assets” of the institution, including the Bengaluru temple.
