Muralidhara Bhatta is cheif archaka of the main Sri Ranganatha Temple at Srirangam. He is in the same family line as of Sri Venkata Bhatta, whose son was Goapala Bhatta Gosvami (one of the 6-gosvamis). Currently Muralidhara Bhatta stays at the house where Sri Gopala Bhatta Gosvami and his father, Sri Venkata Bhatta used to stay. Lord Chaitanya stayed at this house for four months during His South India visit and discussed Krishna Katha with Venkata Bhatta.
In 1970s, Rangaraj Bhatta, the father of Muralidhara Bhatta, issued a letter declaring ISKCON as bona fide Vaisnava Sampradaya as it is based on sastras, which BBT got published in 10s of thousands and widely circulated. The effect was that ISKCON was accepted as a bona fide Vaisnava Sampradaya and ISKCON’s preaching could expand then onwards.
