The purpose of this humble endeavor is encapsulated in the words of the Founder Acarya of ISKCON – AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada in his lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.7.10 given on September 9, 1976 in Vrndavana, India:
“So as far as possible, try to understand. As advised by Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami, siddhanta baliya citte na kara alasa, don’t be lazy. Always try to understand Krsna, siddhanta, by siddhanta, by Vedic conclusion — not by manufacturing ideas. Siddhanta. Don’t be lazy. That is the instruction of Kaviraja Gosvami:
siddhanta baliya citte na kara alasa
iha haite krsne lage sudrdha manasa
(A sincere student should not neglect the discussion of such conclusions, considering them controversial, for such discussions strengthen the mind. Thus one’s mind becomes attached to Sri Krsna.) Caitanay-caritamrita, Adi 2.117
If you study according to the Vedic conclusion, don’t manufacture ideas and whims and sentiments. If you go through siddhanta, then you’ll be more and more firmly fixed up. Iha haite krsne lage sudrdha manasa. Then your life is successful.”
We would like to see “Akincana Gocara” as the voice of the second generation of ISKCON. There are some sites which hold a more official slant, some are on the fringe, some are boring and yet others too outspoken. “Akincana Gocara” is meant to narrow the gap between them with a truthful but modest, and straightforward but honest presentation of issues in Krsna consciousness. It is our belief that all philosophical, cultural and social issues should be dealt with, because negligence or reluctance to properly address them, leads not to unity in diversity, but to disunity and perversity. Still, discussions on controversial issues should be led in a spirit of respect and humility, never forgetting the words of guru, sadhu and sastra.
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur was publishing newspapers on Krsna consciousness topics daily and when questioned by somebody about the need for this he replied that; here in the material world there are thousands of newspapers published daily, reporting repetitious occurrences that become stale after one day, so what to speak of the necessity for reporting the events of the spiritual world, where everything is dynamic, conscious and ever fresh.
This website is the 4th incarnation so to say, of ”Akincana Gocara” a printed newsletter which was first published in 1997 in one of the ISKCON Hare Krishna centers in Croatia. The next stage came several years later with a bimonthly publication titled; “Akincana Gocara Magazine”.
This was soon shifted to the electronic sphere with the arrival of the blog era. From a blog “Akincana” is now transformed into a full-fledged web site intended to humbly assist you on your progressive voyage going home “Back to Godhead” ?
Thank You for reading, chant Hare Krsna and be happy!
Yours truly
