ISKCON releases official 60th-anniversary video: “From one storefront to a movement”

A 108-second video posted on ISKCON’s global YouTube channel marks sixty years since Srila Prabhupada founded the movement, listing its centres, farms, schools, restaurants and meals served, and closing with the line “the journey has only begun.”

ISKCON has released a video for its 60th anniversary on the YouTube channel @ISKCONglobal, which carries the name ISKCON, has been active since 2015 and links to iskcon.org. The video, titled “ISKCON 60 – Official video on the 60th Anniversary of ISKCON,” was published as a YouTube Short on 28 September 2026 and had about 9,400 views on 1 October.

Set to music over lotus imagery and gold “60 Years of ISKCON” graphics, the narration opens with Srila Prabhupada’s arrival: “In 1965, one Indian monk arrived in New York with just a few books, a pair of cymbals and an extraordinary mission.” It describes him as having come “to share the timeless message of love for Krishna with the modern world,” adding that “what began with one devotee became a global spiritual family.”

The video then lists the movement’s present reach, as stated by ISKCON: more than 1,500 centres in nearly 100 countries, 200 farms and goshalas, more than 100 schools and educational centres, nearly 150 vegetarian restaurants, over 100,000 festivals a year, tribal care initiatives in more than 50 districts of India, “thousands of communities, millions of followers, and more than 4 billion vegetarian meals served to humanity.”

“For 60 years, the sound of the Hare Krishna mantra has crossed languages, cultures and borders,” the narrator says, before the closing lines: “From one storefront to a movement, from one city to the world. 60 years of ISKCON, 60 years of devotion, 60 years of service, and the journey has only begun.”

The on-screen poster carries the anniversary slogans “Six decades. One mission. Eternal purpose.” and “Celebrate together. Inspire forever.” The channel’s description adds that ISKCON was founded by Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966 and that in India, where it is registered in Mumbai, it has more than 450 branches and “lakhs of members.”
