Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
New Delhi, 29th December, 2019: The worldwide community of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) shares its grief with the Madhva community on the attainment of samadhi by His Holiness Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Swami Ji.
Famously known as ‘Pejawar Swamiji’ due to his lifetime of service to Lord Krishna at the Pejawara Mutt in Udupi, he was widely respected for his dedication in serving Lord Krishna and his devotees (witnessed by the fact that he is the only Sannyasi to complete five paryayas in the last few centuries), his scriptural knowledge, his role in propagating the teachings of Sri Madhvacharya through various initiatives and uniting the Madhva community.
His Holiness Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Swami Ji, who was a dear friend of ISKCON, visited ISKCON’s spiritual headquarters in Mayapur, West Bengal in 1995 where he stayed for three days and later on visited several other ISKCON temples over the years. He regularly met and hosted the devotees of ISKCON with whom he would share his appreciation for Srila Prabhupada (ISKCON’s Founder-Acharya) and the efforts of ISKCON in propagating Bhagavata Dharma and Hari Nama Sankirtan around the world.
He spent most of his life as a sannyasi wherein he demonstrated the ideals of his ashrama by living a life marked with simplicity and renunciation while engaging in spreading the message of Lord Krishna in the line of Sri Madhvacharya.
While indeed his passing leaves an irreplaceable loss, his service attitude and dedication for Lord Krishna will serve as an inspiration for the devotees in the years to come.
