Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee remembers Srila Prabhupada

[Translation from Hindi] Udaipur Kiran: 2 Sep. 2019: Kolkata, 1 Sep: Chief Minister Mamta Banerji reminisced about ISKCON Founder Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad and paid tribute to him on the occasion of his appearance day. In this regard she sent a tweet on Sunday morning. Therein, the Chief Minister wrote, “Today is the birth anniversary of ISKCON Founder Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. On this occaision I fondly remember him and pay hommage.”

Abhaya-charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhuapda’s birthday was on 1 september 1896. Also known by the name of Swami Shri Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, he was a preacher of Sanatana Hindu Dharma and famous Gaudiya Vaishnava guru and preacher of dharma. Today, the faith in Lord Krishna and Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, the Hindu religion of the entire world, is credited to the millions of people of the whole world who have become followers of Sanatan Dharma.

Swami Shri Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada propagated the commentaries of the previous Acharayas in Shri Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampraday, the promoters of pure Krishna Bhakti, on the topics of Vedanta, Krishna Bhakti and related fields and spread Krishna consciousness in the Western world.

He was a disciple of Bhaktisiddhanta Thakura Sarasvati, who encouraged him to expound Vedic knowledge through the English language. Prabhupada founded ISKCON and publsihed many holy books on Vaishnava dharma that he edited himself. He passed away on September 14, 1977.
