Whereas, the topic of Vaishnavis giving diksha Initiations is within
ISKCON, over the last several years, a controversial proposal.
Whereas, the devotees in Mayapur are aware that the GBC is considering to
propose that Vaishnavis can give diksha initiation; this resolution has the
potency to seriously affect the unity of the community and the faith of the
devotees in the GBC body.
Whereas, presently the number of Vaishnavis, who might be considered for
giving diksha initiation in the future, is very small in number.
Whereas, these few Vaishnavis, are presently teaching and preaching Krsna
Consciousness to many guests, congregational devotees and initiated
devotees and their preaching will not be
affected by them not becoming diksha Gurus.
Whereas, we feel that the potential detriments of passing this proposal far
outweighs the potential benefits of the same.
It is therefore resolved that:
The proposal “Vaishnavis becoming diksha Gurus” be tabled indefinitely.
